What is Pentecost?

   Have you ever heard of Pentecost? If not, you might be wondering what's that?

   Pentecost is a festival on the Jewish calendar that happens 50 days ("pente" means 50) after Easter. It is recorded in scripture that just before He ascended back into heaven, Jesus instructed his disciples and other followers to wait in Jerusalem until they received power from heaven. They waited and prayed in Jerusalem and on the day of Pentecost the Spirit of God fell on those believers and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit!

   This is what we celebrate on the day of Pentecost all these years later, because we also have experienced for ourselves this same miracle and believe it is for all who would believe! Like the scripture has said in Acts 2:39 "For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
